Resurfacing to say Eid Mubarak y'all!

Eid Mubarak Everybody! I have an apology to make for having vanished from this blog for just over a month without having kept my promises to post Ramadan recipes. In honest truth I underestimated the toll that fasting for an entire month takes, Ramadan in the UK was particularly difficult because there was only a 3 hour interval between sunset and sunrise which meant that I trudged around lifeless throughout the day. There is also of course the complication that arises when your designated photographer is 6000 miles away meaning that your blogging schedule has to coincide with your friends' free time!
Nevertheless I have returned with a new outfit and a bit of banter. Despite the past month having been lethargic and extremely unproductive I’ve drawn out a plan to make the most of this summer and to remain as active as I possibly can. From next week onwards I will hopefully be commencing with my internship at a laboratory that specialises in proteins (I won’t elaborate as I fear my enthusiasm may result in me droning on about it and bore you guys to death), I have purchased a tonne of books to compensate for having put my bookworm habits on snooze mode; currently reading ‘We are our brains: From the womb to Alzheimer’s’ by Dick Swaab - highly highly recommend this to fellow bookworms who want a bitesized amount of information on everything that constitutes us as humans from a physiological point of view. I may also be guilty of having gone on a feverent shopping spree; my arrival having been welcomed with all the shops announcing their sales (or so I’d like to have myself believe) so there will be an abundance of outfit posts! I may also have a couple of other projects up my sleeve this summer but I won’t discuss those just yet in case they don’t materialise! What will you guys be up to this summer?!

Yesterday was Eid, which marks the end of a months’ worth of fasting in the month of Ramadan! With Papa Soydemir not being with us to share the joy, we decided to do something a little different for Eid…. We all pulled on a dozen layers, comfy shoes, hopped into the car and drove to Alton Towers! Alton Towers, for those of you who are clueless, is a ginormous theme park right in the heart of Staffordshire. We forced my mum to board the children’s roller-coaster, got absolutely drenched on the river rapids ride and my brother lost a tonne of his Eid money to the deceptive game stalls (a fool and his money are easily parted). All in all it was a memory we will all cherish and look back on fondly.
